About Dr. Choi

Modern spine care, shaped around the person.

Fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon Jihoon Choi, MD, serves adolescent and adult patients across Dallas–Fort Worth — with focus on the diagnosis first, and surgery only when it is the right answer.

Jihoon Choi, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neck pain, back pain, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, and other spine disorders.

He sees patients at four clinics across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex — in Rockwall, Forney, Greenville, and Garland — providing comprehensive, individualized care for adolescent and adult patients.

Dr. Choi earned his undergraduate degrees at the University of California, San Diego, with dual degrees in Physiology & Neuroscience and Psychology — where he also played collegiate soccer. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine.

Dr. Choi completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned University of Southern California program, training at USC, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and LA County Hospital — now LA General, one of the busiest Level One trauma centers in the country. He then completed an advanced spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, training with renowned spine surgeons.

Dr. Choi serves as a clinical instructor for the orthopedic surgery residency program at Baylor University Medical Center, helping train the next generation of orthopedic surgeons, and takes Level 1 trauma call there.

He specializes in the latest innovations in spinal care: minimally invasive spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, motion-preservation techniques, computer-assisted navigation, augmented-reality technology, and robotic-assisted spine surgery. His goal is to help patients regain function, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy — while minimizing recovery time whenever possible.

Dedicated to a patient-centered approach, Dr. Choi believes surgery should be considered only after conservative treatment options have been fully explored. He works closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their condition, symptoms, and lifestyle goals.

He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the Korean American Spine Society and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in orthopedic and spine surgery literature.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Choi enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, playing soccer, discovering new restaurants, and traveling.
